Resolution passed by the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) condemning the statement made by Shri Nishikant Dubey, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), against the Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.


Whereas the SCAORA, in its meeting dated [insert date of resolution], took serious note of the recent public remarks made by Shri Nishikant Dubey which sought to attack and undermine the dignity, impartiality, and independence of the office of the Chief Justice of India, and thereby, the institution of the Supreme Court of India.


SCAORA has expressed deep anguish and unequivocal condemnation of the statements, terming them as:

  • An unwarranted attack on the judiciary and the Hon’ble CJI.
  • An attempt to erode public confidence in the highest court of the country.
  • Contrary to the spirit of the doctrine of separation of powers as enshrined in the Constitution of India.


SCAORA unanimously resolved the following:

  1. Condemnation of the derogatory remarks made by Shri Nishikant Dubey against the Hon’ble CJI.
  2. Reaffirmation of faith in the independence of the judiciary and the integrity of Hon’ble Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.
  3. Call upon all public representatives to exercise restraint and responsibility while commenting on judicial matters.
  4. Emphasis on the importance of maintaining the dignity of constitutional offices, especially in light of the delicate balance of powers under the Constitution.


SCAORA has urged the public, media, and political representatives to respect the sanctity of judicial processes and refrain from making comments that may be construed as contemptuous or intimidating towards the judiciary.

The resolution serves as a strong message to uphold the majesty and independence of the judicial system and stands in solidarity with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India.
